Day 1 (Sat. July 27): | Freedom Tours will pick you up at one of the pick-up points in time for your flight to Chicago. We start with the show that started Saturday Night Live so be prepared to laugh. The language is a bit racy. |
Day 2 (Sun. July 28) | After breakfast we head west! Today is a three-state day as we start in Illinois, visit Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Our first stop is the famous Wisconsin Dells! We are scheduled for a boat cruise on the Wisconsin River that includes some famous sites like Witches Gulch. After lunch on your own, we move on to the place where iconic fiberglass roadside giants live and then to an ice cream stop on the Mississippi River. Tonight we stay in Rochester, Minnesota. We will do a drive by/picture stop at Mayowood (Mayo home) We check into our hotel for the night then a dinner shuttle if needed (on your own). |
Day 3 (Mon. July 29) | Our first stop is the SPAM Museum where you will learn more than you can imagine. We move on to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and the beautiful Falls Park. We will take time for lunch in town. After some beautiful pictures of the series of waterfalls we move on the Mitchell and the famous Corn Palace. We spend the night here. |
Day 4 (Tue. July 30) | The Aktá Lakota Museum & Cultural Center and the St. Joseph’s Indian School await our visit this morning. During the Cold War, the USA had many “minuteman missiles” to deter attack. We will visit the National Historic Site for the Minuteman. Then the famous Wall Drug is just a short hop down the road. Give one of their homemade donuts a try or maybe a buffalo burger. (lunch here) On to Rapid City, SD where we take a short stroll along Art Alley and then on to a very unique “Chapel in the Hills”. Stay in Rapid City tonight. |
Day 5 (Wed. July 31) | A day for iconic sites: We head to Mount Rushmore early this morning. After a few pictures here we move on the Crazy Horse Memorial (this will also be our lunch stop). The last iconic site for today is the Devils Tower. We spend the night in Gillette, WY |
Day 6 (Thur. August 1) | Our first stop is the quaint western town of Buffalo, WY. Take a few minutes to stretch your legs and stroll. See the Occidental Hotel where Teddy Roosevelt and Calamity Jane were guests. We then move on the where Custer had his last stand, The Battle of the Little Bighorn. Freedom Tours will host lunch in the area before we move on to Billings for the night. |
Day 7 (Fri. August 2) | We continue to make our way across “Big Sky” country with a couple of cool quick stops on our way to Butte for lunch. On to Wallace, Idaho for the night. |
Day 8 (Sat. August 3) | We are headed for home today with a stop for lunch along the way |
